Blu: ‘Her Favorite Colo(u)r’ Release Date | LP Tracklist | Album Artwork

Some great news if you're a fan of the Cali emcee, Blu. SC reports: His unreleased first album, finally mastered with the added tracks from Blu’s unreleased The Godlee Barnes LP, now appears to be set for sale in February 2011 via Nature Sounds Records [having had an initial release date of August 2010].

‘Now signed to Warner Brothers at work on his major label debut, the emcee/producer will formally unveil his unreleased debut, Her Favorite Colo(u)r. Nature Sounds Records is poised to release Blu’s mid-’00s album, featuring acts such as TiRon, Sene and Strange Fruit Project’s Myth. Aside from one song, the entire album is produced by Blu,’ report HipHopDX.

“Every project I approach, I don’t want it to sound like anything else,” Blu said in a statement. “I feel like I’m going to be producing a lot longer than I’ll be rapping.”

Blu Performs A New Song (Live)

We don't get to post much about Blu.. partly because no one really knows where he's been hiding these days. I've been told he hasn't been in the spotlight much because he feels that if he isn't in the public eye and/or being talked about then that'll protect him from future leaks. That's just the back-story, but enough of that.. Check out his performance of “EaseYourMind”, from his forthcoming NoYork! album, live at The Fix in Portland, Oregon.

Blu Talks Possible Mixtape, All City Chess Club Album?

Blu conducted a quick Q&A with Vibe He talked about his upcoming GodLee Barnes LP, potentially dropping an official mixtape and working with Lupe’s All City Chess Club for a possible album! It's a bit premature to hope for the latter but hey you never know.

Will you ever drop an official mixtape with a DJ?

We’re still wrapping mixing the record and getting our campaign together. There might be a mixtape coming. I’ve been talking to some real DJs about doing my first official mixtape. I definitely want to out my foot in that arena⎯show them how I would do it. You’ll definitely hear some random singles from me very soon.

How did you get down with Lupe’s supergroup, All City Chess Club?
I talked to Lupe on the phone about the crew. He’s the head honcho with All City Chess Club. He really just gave me call on the random one day [laughs]. For some reason, I thought it was Bilal. But we chopped it up for a while. And a little while later he shot me the “I’m Beaming (Remix)” to get on there. I’m still waiting and wanting to lay some verses with them. I’m definitely down with recording an album.

Blu – Dancing In The Rain Live (Video)

Live and direct from the dopehouse-sponsored edition of The Rising in Miami. Backstory: after Blu was gearing up to finish his set, I ended up looping the opening chords to my favorite song of his. To my surprise, he jumped right into the song, spur of the moment-style. - Meka

Blu Live In Sacramento (Video)

For the first time in two years, Blu performed in Sacramento and was welcomed with open arms. Instead of playing the expected Below The Heavens tracks, he opted for a lesser known indie rock set along with a live band, but he gave the crowd all exclusives. Though the crowd couldn’t rap (or sing) along with him, Blu’s presence was indeed appreciated. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview brought to you by TheMashUp.net.

Verse of The Day: Blu - Below The Heavens

Somebody once told me that I'm already in hell

Freedoms a state a mind
And just the heart of me's in hell
I free my slave mind so a part of me's in hell
And when it's hard to breathe, a part of me inhale
So pardon me you gotta' try hard to be yourself
'Cause you can't get to heaven being anybody else
And I was raised by a reverend yet the lessons didn't help
I had to get 'em for myself
I was told hell is hot, But had to feel it for myself
So I left home, as a young child smiling as I stepped on
Facing the world but naked, without my weapon
I lost my smile and in exchange, I put a vest on
Now that my premature stress is gone
I got problems to face as a man
I was told you either stand or you fall
As long as you know when you walk you holdin' hands with a god
That alone can turn the dark to a walk in the park
I only talk from my heart so open yours when you listening
Every man has his own heaven the difference is the way that he envision it
So if you make your heaven picture less
By the time you die
You'll be driftin' in an imageless field
So build your heaven full of blessed thoughts
That's real, you can stress it or just let it walk
I got a question if a man can make his own heaven
Can he make his path to get to it too?
I only spit through a truth
And I spit it for the listeners
So I'm spittin' to you
